About Us

Driven by a collective sense of urgency and compassion, the Maternal Health & Hope Coalition (MHHCo) emerged in 2022 as a beacon of hope, dedicated to dismantling the systemic barriers that jeopardize the lives of birthing people in our community. Our mission is to eliminate health disparities in maternal care and improve health outcomes for birthing people in Brooklyn by providing access to resources that address the social determinants of health.

Brooklyn, often celebrated for its diversity and vibrancy, harbors a stark truth – it holds the second-highest maternal mortality rate in New York City, trailing behind The Bronx. This alarming statistic underscores the critical need for our work. We are committed to ensuring that every individual, regardless of their zip code, ethnicity, or socio-economic status, has equitable access to quality maternal care.

Our coalition is rooted in the firm belief that everyone deserves the chance to experience a healthy and safe childbirth. By partnering with a diverse array of community organizations and leveraging a comprehensive network of support services, we strive to create a nurturing and informed environment for all birthing people in Brooklyn. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, MHHCo is dedicated to fostering a community where maternal health thrives and every birth is a cause for hope and celebration.
